Simplifying Advertising Requirements for Real Estate Licensees

In 2014, the requirement that a real estate licensee, “…identify himself or herself as either a broker or an agent salesperson in any advertising…”  was replaced with a requirement that, “Any advertising by a licensee must include the real estate brokerage name more prominently displayed than the licensee’s name.”

Unfortunately, the amended language has continued to generate questions regarding what “more prominently displayed” means.

This bill would replace the existing “more prominently displayed” requirement with a simpler requirement that any advertising by a licensee must clearly and conspicuously display the real estate brokerage name.
