Do No Harm to Housing

Housing affordability and availability are not only important issues for Minnesota, they are in the spotlight nationwide.

In addition to proactively considering policies that support homeownership and increase opportunities to add much-needed housing inventory, the Legislature should also refrain from advancing policies that will have adverse effects on the housing market.

During the 2022 Session, Ask Your Legislators to Oppose Proposals That Would:

  • Increase the cost of the real estate transaction, thereby increasing the cost of housing

  • Increase the cost of building new homes

  • Add additional roadblocks to the construction of new homes

  • Create a disincentive to providing more homeownership opportunities in both existing and new construction.

Every $1,000 added to the price of a home prices out approximately 2,500 Minnesota families from the housing market. (NAHB/Wells Fargo)
